Happy Mother's Day! |

Maureen arriving home from church. |
Today I slept until almost 10. Maureen had
just gotten back from church in a very nice dress. I had some coffee
and oatmeal for breakfast. I don't know if I mentioned it before but the coffee is
like a jar of coffee flakes that you pour in a cup and add boiling
water to and then it dissolves...even with a little sugar it's like
truck stop coffee, pure tar! I love it! I was then informed around
that time that Ernest was on his way to pick me up so we could go to
the soccer match (we were told at the time we went to the stadium
that we needed to be there early to get tickets, maybe around 10:30
or so) so I hurried and got ready and was excited to go. My hopes
were fading when noon came around and we still hadn't heard from him
(punctuality isn't a priority). At approximately 5 minutes of 2:00
pm, Ernest had phoned Maureen to inform her that he was indeed on his
way to get me to go to the soccer match...only problem is that it
started at 2 and it would take us at least 30 to 45 minutes to get
there because of traffic and big crowds around the stadium. So no
dice today unfortunately, better luck next time! I ended up writing
and doing things with the blog for a little while and then realized
that it was beginning to get a little late. I hadn't even left the
house yet and it was already 6 o'clock (I didn't feel too bad, i'm
still learning so much from the people here) and as I was getting
ready to go outside, maybe for a run or to the market or something,
it started to rain really hard so I stayed inside. I did get to
catch some of the QPR v Manchester City match on tv which was pretty
cool and then a short time later Maureen began making dinner (she had
already prepared a lunch with some things she started
yesterday...fried red plantanes and a wonderful bean stew). Wow,
best fried rice i've ever had! I came back to my room for a bit to
let my food settle and then considered whether or not I wanted to go
for a run or something as I hadn't really done anything active.
Maureen then brought me some fresh sliced mango as a sweet after meal
snack, so incredibly thoughtful. Well, around 8 pm I decided to go
for a short run (short for me means really short, I am not a runner),
maybe a couple miles after I walked to cool down but it was also
really hilly but ultimately ok. Another incredible downpour tonight
kept me up a bit but thankfully no water inside my room this time.
